Emma Jean came to Amazing Grace one cold night full of sores, 200 lbs under weight, and near death after giving birth to a still born baby in a snowy field; her 15th baby in her 20 year life. It was a cold and windy February night that Donna received a call from the Vet telling of of this sad situation. Donna open her heart and offered a warm stall for Emma Jean. Donna wanted this frail little donkey to die with love and dignity and with people surrounding her who cared. She was not expected to live through the night so Donna stayed with her in the stall offering her water, warmth and as much care as she could. But Emma Jean was a fighter, and was still alive in the morning. She was weak and laying on her side, unable to lift her head to eat. It took 4 people to lift her up and medicine applied to her many open sores. The Vet still was unsure if Emma would survive. Many nights Donna stayed by her side.
Three weeks after her arrival to AGAS, Donna entered the barn one morning and Emma Jean was standing. Today Sweet Emma Jean is thriving and full of love to give to visitors. She shares a stall with her best friend, Buddy.
