The Year in Review – 2023
At Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary, we believe in providing a safe and loving home for all animals. Our commitment to their well-being is unwavering, even in the face of challenges.
In 2023, we encountered unexpected expenses that tested our resilience. Little Archie, a piglet left by the side of the road in the middle of winter, became an unplanned rescue that incurred additional veterinary costs.
Our barn fire brought about the need for a new charger and electrical work, along with the installation of a new electrical system for the safety of our beloved residents.
The loss of our dear donkey, June Bug, required extensive veterinary care and an emergency visit to a specialized equine hospital totaling well over $6,000. June Bug and his buddy Jake were our first new residents in 2008.
The frequent rainfall this year continuously resulted in a muddy paddock that demanded a major renovation of over $7,000 to ensure the well-being of our horses, donkeys, and alpacas.
Additionally, the sale/change of hands and change in policy of our usual fundraising facility, left us with a deficit of $67,000 that we had been receiving in past years, impacting our ability to raise funds for our sanctuary.
We needed to have another run-in shed built for the donkeys and even though the work was donated, the materials were $9,000.
Despite these challenges, we remain dedicated to providing the best care for our animals, which includes the increase and ongoing expense of hay due to the lack of grazing pastures. Although the weather conditions made hay scarce and more expensive, we prioritize the health and nourishment of our animal family.
Won’t you help our Animals?
For as little as $5 you can buy a square hay bale and feed one of our animals. Or you can feed the alpacas and goats their breakfast and dinner for a day, with a donation of $25. There are many options for you to choose from.
We have made a commitment to take care of 47 animals and provide them with food, hay and supplies. We are also committed to teach others about their care and provide therapeutic support. A much welcome and needed donation to Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary will be used to help feed and care for our animals.
We are all volunteers at the farm. Please visit us! We and the animals will love it!
