Drizzle the Miniature Horse
Buddy, a charming little Nigerian Dwarf goat, found his way to Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary after searching for a loving home for quite some time. He was known as the nomad of Sullivan N.H. He could be found regularly roaming house to house looking for food and attention. He was in search of a family that could love him forever. He once had a nice family who loved him very much, but their dog did not and eventually little Buddy’s ear was torn.
With his gentle spirit and a heartwarming smile that can brighten anyone’s day, Buddy quickly captured our hearts when he arrived around 2011; we believe he was about 2 years old then.
Buddy has been a special addition to the family. He’s sweet, gentle, laid-back and now livin’ the life. As a Nigerian dwarf goat, you won’t find him head–butting when you approach his small white head, instead, he’ll ask for a scratch behind his ears while he closes his eyes and cherishes his time with you.
As the sanctuary’s beloved official greeter, he has an incredible way of making everyone feel welcomed. Buddy also keeps himself busy with a heartfelt tour schedule, visiting schools, assisted living facilities, Cedarcrest Center for Children, and spreading joy during holiday walks in downtown Keene. His story is one of resilience and affection, reminding us all of the power of Love.
Peaches the Horse
In 2016 Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary was honored to receive Peaches. She came from a riding stable and belonged to a young lady who boarded her and took lessons there. All was well until peaches was kicked by one of the other horses and her injury left her unable to be ridden. The boarding facility had no use for this beautiful chestnut horse when she could no longer be used for riding. It was up to the family to find her another home or euthanize this young 22 year-old-horse.
We received a visit from the family and they pleaded with us to take Peaches at the sanctuary. She was a beauty… healthy, calm and great around people. This made us shake our heads once again at the idea that these beautiful creatures are often only considered for our pleasure. Peaches has been a lovely addition to the farm. She has been trained by a couple of different young ladies in the field of Perelli. She has recently bonded with a special young lady who lives at the farm with us.

Bridget the Donkey
Bridget, the beautiful girl, who is a 26 year old standard donkey, has an old soul that has walked many miles, and carried many children on her back. Bridget is as gentle as a lamb with the Spirit of a lion. She came to Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary in August of 2020. Her owners had grown older and unable to continue to care for her. They did the responsible and loving act of finding her a special home. Bridget loves visitors who take her for walks down the country roads.
Emma Jean the Mini Donkey
Emma Jean came to Amazing Grace one cold night full of sores, 200 lbs. under weight, and near death after giving birth to a still born baby in a snowy field; her 15th baby in her 20 year life. It was a cold and windy February night that Donna received a call from the Vet telling of this sad situation. Donna opened her heart and offered a warm stall for Emma Jean. She wanted this frail little donkey to die with love and dignity. She was not expected to live through the night.
Bundled up in blankets and a heat lamp they settled down for the night hoping for a miracle. But Emma Jean defied the odds and was still alive in the morning. She was weak and laying on her side, unable to lift her head to eat. Emma was surrounded by people who would love her and offer her hope pleading with her to give life one more chance. A chance to be loved and cared for in a way she could only dream about as she lay motionless in her stall.
She was not giving up and neither were her caregivers at AGAS. It had been 3 weeks and Donna went up to the barn one morning and Emma Jean was standing on her own will. Today this little creature, who came to our sanctuary to die, lives with her best friend Mya (another mini donkey) frolicking thru the pasture and greeting visitors.

Mya the Mini Donkey
Reuben arrived at Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary in 2019, at the tender age of 5 days old. This little guy was found in the pasture alone and frozen. They didn’t know who his mom was and he needed immediate medical attention or he would die. He eventually lost the tips of his ears due to frostbite.
Once he was in our arms, it was time to get diapers and formula to bottle feed our little kid baby goat. Reuben lived in the house for 6 months, sleeping in a crib, playing on the furniture and snuggling in our arms. He loved going for rides in the car. He was so much fun and adorable especially in his outfits.
At six months old he was too big to live in the house so we had to transition him to the barn to live with the other goats. He shares a room with a buddy and Willie. At first he did not get along with the goats…he didn’t know what they were, as he grew up with humans and thought that’s what he was so it took a little time to settle in and act like a goat. He loves to go for hikes and jump on the rocks. Reuben still cuddles and we’re working on his Goat manners as he has a wild side to his fun loving personality.
“I wanted to thank you for the packet I recently received in the mail! My daughter, Emily has been sponsoring Gronk for the past year, as a birthday present for me. I would have to say, that was one of the best gifts I have ever received!
Take good care and thanks again!”
