At Amazing Grace Animal Sanctuary, we believe in providing a safe and loving home for all animals. Our commitment to their well-being is unwavering, even in the face of challenges. In 2023, we encountered unexpected expenses that tested our resilience. Little Archie, a pig left by the side of the road in the middle of winter, became an unplanned rescue that incurred additional veterinary costs. Our barn fire brought about the need for a new charger and electrical work, along with the installation of a new electrical system for the safety of our beloved residents. The loss of our dear donkey, June Bug, required extensive veterinary care and an emergency visit to a specialized equine hospital. Furthermore, the frequent rainfall resulted in a muddy paddock that demanded a major renovation to ensure the well-being of our horses, donkeys, and alpacas. Additionally, the sale of our usual fundraising facility left us without an alternative venue, impacting our ability to raise funds for our sanctuary. Despite the challenges, we remain dedicated to providing the best care for our animals, which includes the ongoing expense of hay due to the lack of grazing pastures. Although the weather conditions made hay scarce and more expensive, we prioritize the health and nourishment of our animal family. To accommodate our donkeys, we also had to construct a new run-in shed, with the materials being the only expense incurred. As we reflect on the year in review, we humbly acknowledge the financial strain but reaffirm our commitment to the well-being of our animals.
